A GUIDE FOR PUBLISHERS

Configure a journal before launch

Workflow versions, team access and submission requirements.

Back to all guides

Journal requirements and available actions depend on your assigned role and the journal's configured workflow.

01

Set journal policy

In journal settings, configure the review model, submission files, declarations, references and contribution requirements. Review deadlines and production stages with the editorial team.

02

Activate the intended workflow

Save and activate the intended workflow version. Check the author submission experience before launch. Existing manuscripts may retain the workflow version recorded when they entered the process.

03

Assign access

Use Users & Access to assign roles and journal permissions. Confirm editors and section editors can access the intended journals. Multiple roles can be assigned to one user.

04

Verify launch readiness

Check journal branding, editorial board details, published archives and contact information. Test a submission and reviewer invitation with authorised test accounts before inviting your community.
